Inspire Spring Event Live!

Wowee - all the hard work has paid off and the first of our events for next year has gone live!  Great feeling!!

You can visit Inspire's homepage at or go to the SPRING EVENT live. There are some amazing workshops and tutors available, as well as evening talks and dinners and lots of other socializing.

We already have a number of bookings and the site only went live yesterday - how great is that.  Looks like it will be very popular, but with some of the world's biggest names from the world of quilting and textiles such as Sheena Norquay, Dawn Cameron Dick, Anja Townrow, Gail Lawther, Jennie Rayment, Annette Morgan, Ferret, Helen Deighan, Freida Anderson (USA), Barbara Weeks, Patricia Archibald, Susan Brubaker Knapp (USA), Gillian Travis, Isobel Hall, Sue Rangeley and Alicia Merrett have been confirmed for these events, is it any wonder?

City & Guilds Bursaries available

Over the last year or so we have had a number of students who have been fortunate enough to obtain a City & Guilds bursary for the whole cost of their course and also an allowance for materials.  The next round of bursaries will shortly become available and I wanted to let you know a little about it.  The paragraph below is taken from their site. Site address is

City & Guilds offers a small number of bursaries (awards) each year to people who would like the opportunity to study for a City & Guilds qualification in order to improve their financial situation and whom would be unable to study without support.
The bursaries can be used for a wide range of purposes but we do not make any retrospective payments including payments for career development or deferred loans that you may have taken out with a college or bank.
We can only consider applications for a bursary from people who are currently resident in, and wish to study in, the UK and who wish to study for a City & Guilds qualification.
How to apply for a City & Guilds Bursary
Applications are now closed, the next bursary round has a closing date of 31 October 2012 at 5pm and applications for this will open on 1 August 2012.
Please return to this site between 1 August and 31 October should you wish to apply.

Beads Up North

I promised Gordon Halfpenny that I would let everyone know about his July 29th Bead Fair at Haydock Park Racecourse, so I've included a poster from the event below for further details - maybe if you're in the area you'd like to call in?  Unusual beads for a special project can be so hard to source now.....

Janet and I have been working really hard on our Inspire events and we hope to stick to our original plan and go live with the first event over the next week.  As soon as it happens I'll let you know.  Gosh - it will be a relief when it happens, for us at any rate!

Janet called in at the last bead fair of Gordon's at Haydock and came away with quite a handful of goodies - you can see what she bought on her blog entries at
