Karen Casper

This site just dropped into my inbox - some stunning work by Karen Casper, who is also presently undertaking a Master of Textiles course at Manchester Met Uni.

Karen produces innovative beautiful tactile pieces of work who does not particularly lean towards one technique, but enjoys and thrives on working with mixed media.  Techniques include devore, quilting, embroidery, print,  fabric manipulation and embellishment to produce fine art pieces and commercial items, ensuring to retain the uniqueness.  Using traditional textile techniques and vintage aesthetics Karen injects contemporary technology producing innovative futuristic pieces that ultimately creates an art and fashion crossover.

First Day Back

Our first day back in work - I know not everyone feels like this after the Festive break, but I have to say it's great to get some normality back again after all the Christmas and New Year upheavals!

It was lovely today to hear from 2 new students who have been awarded City & Guilds Bursaries.  Many congratulations to both of them.  Because we've also had inquiries about the new round of bursary applications, I thought I'd also put the link up here for anyone who is interested in finding out more.  The next round of applications can be made from February 2014, so do keep an eye out for the form appearing on their site at the address below http://www.cityandguilds.com/Courses-and-Qualifications/Support/Finance-and-Funding/Bursaries

The bursaries can be used for a wide range of purposes including:
  • Paying your course and/or exam fees
  • Covering living costs if you are unable to work while you study
  • Covering childcare or travel expenses
  • Covering other costs that are making it difficult for you to enrol on a course.
